Psychological Astrology vs. Therapy

I am an astrologer who has mental health training and a psychological and relational approach, but my role as astrologer is separate from that of a therapist. â€‹

As an astrologer, I help provide an expanded understanding of the context in which your experience is occurring and my role is to tell you about what is happening in the sky so that you may reflect more deeply on a specific experience, perhaps leading to new insights. In a therapeutic relationship, it is primarily you who tells your clinician about your experience so that they can ask questions that guide you to an action plan to address the presenting problem. I think it is important to keep these roles distinct in my practice.

Occasionally I may encounter clients who may seem as though they might benefit from more intensive work with a trained and licensed professional under the influence of particularly difficult planetary transits, which I may mention as a way to help manage the effect of the transit over a period of time when it is most active. Often, when I suggest therapy to a client I learn that the client has anticipated their own needs and is already working with a mental health professional. Astrological consultation can be a wonderful supplement to the therapeutic process but isn't a replacement for it. I am happy to provide suggestions for how you might find a trained clinician in your area.
